Enjoy Hiking
Kyle Canyon is set against the majestic Spring Mountains National Recreation Area. It has more than 60 miles of well-maintained trails that begin at an elevation of more than 6,000 feet and ends at 11,916 feet at the Charleston Peak. Those who would like to hike should come prepared, as the altitude can make them prone to sun exposure and dehydration during summer. During winter, hiking is often discouraged because most of the trails are impassable.
Do Horseback Riding
Another option for visitors heading to Kyle Canyon is horseback riding. This exciting activity takes you at 7,700 feet in Kyle Canyon. Don’t worry as professional wranglers are there to guide the trained horses around the marvelous junipers and Ponderosa pine trees lining the trails. Tip: Do the horseback riding early in the morning to get that cool mountain breeze. The trail takes about 90 minutes to trek. If it is isn’t enough to giddy up your senses, you can choose to extend your trial ride for another two hours. You can explore the outskirts of the mountain and bask at the glorious valleys below. Enjoy Mountain Biking
For the more adventurous souls, Kyle Canyon also has two trails that are perfect for mountain biking. The trails are a delight for biking enthusiasts as it offers outstanding and scenic trails at the same time. The Twilight Loop and The Slots offer moderate climbs and gradual descents perfect for strolling the hills heading to Mt. Charleston. Make sure to watch out for the Kyle Canyon Road as it has a rapid decline with scenery like you’ve never seen before. Marvel at the desert shrubs and Joshua trees that litter the grounds.
Spend the Day Camping
Kyle Canyon is the perfect place for camping. It is a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the city. While the camping site does not allow overnight camping, it is still a great place to spend the day enjoying with the family. Note, however, that the campgrounds are offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
